Luxorious Homemade Sea-Salt & Mint Foot Scrub

I'm back with another DIY for you girls. This scrub left my feet so tingly and minty fresh!! I love it! This is a luxurious scrub and leaves your skin feeling baby soft.  I promise you won't be able to keep your hands off your feet.

Here is what you'll need,

  • air-tight container
  • sea salt
  • coconut oil (substitute almond oil or olive oil)
  • mint essential oil (substitute tea tree oil)
  • vitamin E oil (optional)
  • vanilla extract (optional)
P.S I made my own mint essential oil because I couldn't find essential oils anywhere here in Jeddah. Keep reading to find out how how I made my own mint essential oil.

I used sea salt because the texture is very grainy which is excellent for exfoliating all dead skin. Coconut oil  is extremely moisturizing for the skin and also gets absorbed really quickly. Mint essential oil increases blood circulation and reduces stress or pain. I added vitamin E oil because it is a natural preservative and will make the scrub last longer. But, if you do not have Vit E oil, don't worry your scrub will still last long because salt itself is a natural preservative. I added some vanilla extract for sweet fragrance.

Fill the container with sea salt.

I didn't measure the ingredients, just eye-balled it. Now, the trick here is to get a medium consistency. That means the scrub shouldn't be very oily or very dry. It should be right in the middle. But, if you've dry skin definitely add more oil.

Add in about 2 teaspoons of the essential oil and the vitamin-E oil.

Few drops of Vanilla extract. It makes the scrub smell really good.

Mix everything together and check if the consistency is too dry or too oily. If too oily add more salt and if too dry add in more coconut oil.

And, you're done! Enjoy this amazing scrub in your bath tub. Apply it all over your feet (Warning! There will be some fall-out.), let it rest for a few minutes and then scrub, scrub, scrub! Wash off and enjoy your baby soft & minty fresh feet. If your feet feel a little oily, don't worry, in a few minutes your skin will absorb it all. If you don't want to mess your floor, pop on some socks. I love doing this at night, it helps you sleep better.

How I made my mint essential oil?

You will need olive oil or almond oil and some fresh mint leaves. Wash and dry your mint leaves. Pour the oil in a cooking pot on very low heat. Add in the mint leaves and cover the pot. Leave the pot on the stove for AS LONG AS POSSIBLE on very LOW heat. You can leave it for 1 hour or as long as you can. The mint leaves will release all their oils into the olive oil. Strain the oil and remove the leaves. Store in a glass jar.

If you do try this, don't forget to come back and let me know how it went for you. Do you like these kind of DIY's? Leave a comment and let me know.

  1. Assalamualaikum
    Yayy another DIY!
Can we use table salt instead? If table salt is too fine (refined) can we use sugar?

    1. Walikum As Salam dear,
The reason why we need coarse salt is because it will give a great exfoliation. I used salt instead of sugar because salt is a natural preservative and if you use salt you can store this scrub for about a month or more. But, not if you use sugar, it will go bad real soon.

  2. Wow thanx! May I ask how old you are?

Please, be nice. ♥
